Roger
Buddle was born in South Australia in 1940. He gained a Bachelor of Design
degree (Ceramics & Glass) from Uni. SA in 1994. In 1995 he moved to Victor
Harbor and established a glass studio, working in kiln-formed glass. His glass
working techniques include glass fusing, lost wax casting, and pate de verre.
In 2004 he completed a Master of Visual Arts post graduate degree (Uni. of SA).
The thesis for this study was interpretation
of wilderness areas in glass. This resulted in a technique of multilayered
fused glass work which has led to his current method of working.
In 2011 he
was granted the Artist in Residence position at Grindell’s Hut, Vulkathunha - Gammon
Ranges National Park. This resulted in a body of work depicting this arid,
fragile area.
Roger has
exhibited throughout Australia as wall as Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Portugal,
USA, and Germany.

Conservation Statement
“I have a particular interest in
Australian arid area conservation. These fragile landscapes and the flora and
fauna within them are especially vulnerable to feral animals as well as human
activity and need proactive protection.”
