Artist Bio: Jerome Kalvas


Jerome Kalvas
Jerome Kalvas is a self-taught artist who has always had a passion for animals of all shapes and sizes. Jerome currently works as a veterinarian for Zoos SA. Jerome generally paints from photos taken in the field and enjoys using pencil, pastel and watercolour. He was a finalist in the 2006 Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize.

Conservation Statement
In order to best understand a practical means of wildlife conservation, I am currently in the process of completing my veterinary masters in conservation medicine. As each animal and plant forms an integral part of its environment, saving just one species from extinction may subsequently save a great many others!

Jerome is exhibiting in the Creating for Conservation Art Exhibition 2012. The pieces [pictured] are representative of his work. The pieces Jerome chooses to exhibit will be available for purchase at the C4C2012 Exhibition only [no online sales]. Proceeds from C4C2012 are dedicated to Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust - Zambia. Please come along on the opening night on 2nd November or over the weekend 2nd November to 4th November to see Jerome ’s work and that of the other fantastic contributing Artists.
